SUMMER SEMESTER AT OPUS II DANCE STUDIO ENDS ON JULY 29.

The Summer Semester has been a fantastic time of artistic and physical growth for our dancers.  Thanks to our summer teachers - Jennifer Doyle, Brittany Dusz, Shannon Maloney, and Jeni Norris for helping to make the summer great. 

Thanks to Guest Chreographer Mark Tomasic for creating a fantastic dance for Ashland Regional Ballet.  His week in residence was the highlight of the Summer Semester for ARB dancers.  His new dance, "Concerto", will be premiered at Concert in the Park on August 15th.

FALL SEMESTER AT OPUS II DANCE STUDIO

Classes are forming NOW for the new school year.

• $25 Registration Fee - waived ... if your registration reaches us by August 21st.  Please sign up early to help our staff prepare for a well organized beginning to the new school year.

Ashland Regional Ballet Educational Field Trips ... Educational field trips are a wonderful way to keep in touch with what is happening in the larger dance community.  These opportunities are an important aspect of dance education.   ARB dancers will travel to Blossom Music Center to see the Joffrey Ballet on September 4th.

Dancer News  

ARB dancers attendeed special summer dance programs.  Anna Bentley & Christina Lindhout studied at the Magnus Midwest Dance Intensive in Flint Michigan.  Allie Amstutz studied at Alvin Ailey in New York City.  Congratulations dancers.  Well done!

Alumni Update

Rebekah Brown graduated from The State University of New York at Buffalo with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance, Summa Cum Laude.  Rebekah appeared as a guest performer in the Opus II Spring Dance Concert in May 2010 performing her own choreography, Nuvole Bianche.

Jesse Keller, 2009 graduate of Ohio University with a BFA in performance and choreography, is working at The Yard on Martha's Vineyard for the summer months.  This is her 2nd summer on the island.  She continues her work with Stefanie Batten Bland having recently performed with that company in Paris. In August Stefanie and dancers will begin working with Mikhail Baryshinikov.  They have been invited as one of two companies to work at this studio, creating new works.  Baryshinikov will then produce the works in a performance venue.

Shannon Maloney has recently accepted employment with Sesame Street Live.  She will perform in their west coast tour beginning in August, 2010.  She is a 2009 Cum Laude Graduate of Oklahoma City University's Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Arts Management, with a Bachelor of Performing Arts in ance Performance.  Her tap choreography, Can Ya Dig It? was featured in the most recent Opus Spring Dance Soncert.  Shannon is a member of the summer teaching staff at Opus II.

Jeni Norris has recently received a full contract for the 2010/2011 season with Fort Wayne Ballet in Fort Wayne Indiana.  During July she taught Pilates classes at Opus II.  In August she will begin her work with Fort Wayne Ballet.

Jennifer McGill-Rusynyk (Jener) is pursuing a Master's Degree in Arts Administration at Drexel University in Philadelphia.  As part of her studies she is working with the Director of Development at the Pennsylvania Ballet, and with Philadelphia Hospitality, which provides exclusive tours of Philly cultural organizations for out of town guests. And she is working at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts.  Husband, Todd is doing volunteer design work for non-profits all around the country through grassroots.org hoping to develop a career as a freelance graphic/web designer.
